Here’s the deal… I learned a long time ago that sometimes you have to use what you’ve got to make things happen. What I happen to have is a pretty smile, long legs and the ability to make men believe anything I say. Before you get on your high horse and start judging me, can you honestly say you’ve never batted your lashes at some guy for a free drink at the bar? That’s what I thought.

Keep that in mind as I tell you my story of how I took it one step further. My story of lies, deceit, manipulation and love. Yeah, love. Believe me, it fits. Especially, when you factor in Nick and Tucker – one had my heart and the other one wanted it all for himself. Which one? Well, I can’t tell you that. It would defeat the purpose of the story. If I’m going to fill you in about me, Lila Garrison, and my life as a con artist you’re going to need to know all the facts, including the ones about the two guys who made me want to give up the life of fancy clothes, expensive jewelry, fast cars and easy money. Because sometimes, one person can give you something that’s more valuable than all of that.

If you’re still interested, stick around. Just remember, I’m pretty good at convincing people to do what I want, so if by the end of this whole thing you feel worked over, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I should have heeded the warning in the synopsis about feeling worked over. There were times during this book, I felt exactly that!

I was attracted to this story because it was about a female con artist and it sounded different to what I had been reading lately. My automatic assumption was that I would hate Lila- a manipulative pretty girl who uses people. I was so far wrong. From the moment we meet Lila I found her to be endearing. Growing up poor made Lila fear she would miss out on what mattered in life so she gets swept up by Nick and they become con-artists to obtain all the finer things. It was clear to see Lila was in fact a young naive girl just trying to impress a boy.

Nick and Lila’s relationship is undefined no thanks to Nick as Lila has been secretly in love with him for the past 4 years. Nick knows this and it soon becomes clear that he uses this to his advantage at any given time. So he approaches Lila with ‘one last job’ before they both get out of life of crime. But this time, instead of an overweight balding rich tycoon to swindle money out of, Nick sets Lila the challenge of seducing and conning young, handsome Tucker Kline.

Helloooooo Tucker Kline we met Tucker at the 10% mark in this story and by golly I was hooked from then on in. This fella was a hot athletic charmer, yup he was. Lila’s attraction to him scared her as she was never one to blur the lines between feelings for ‘the mark’ and her own personal desires. Unfortunately for her, Tucker was just too darn irresistible (and I can’t blame the girl )

So the plan was set in motion, Lila was to get Tucker to fall for her, get her hands on his money and help Nick settle an old debt. Easy right? Turns out out that’s not the case

From early on I had my eye on Nick, that guy was worth a watching and I was convinced he was up to no good. Was my theory correct? Well you’re just going to have to read it for yourself to find out.

There were so many great moments between Tucker and Lila *sigh*as they navigated their relationship between a set up and real feelings. The chemistry was captured perfectly and there was the perfect balance of need and want proving you don’t need graphic bedroom scenes to portray this. That’s not to say at times it didn’t get particularly steamy *winks*

I loved the author’s writing style. I loved the characterisation of Tucker, Lila, her friend Brynn and even Nick. I felt I got to know them and could connect on some level with each one of them. I loved that I was continually guessing throughout the story. Just when I was sure I had figured the story out, BAM another bombshell was dropped! It was great, my stomach was in knots and at one point I felt like I was reading a scene from Ocean’s 11. I didn’t know who was trustworthy as all the secrets and lies came tumbling out.

This was a fabulous story, it’s so refreshing to read something original and when you throw in a swoon worthy guy like Tucker, you will win me over every time! I highly recommend this one
